The Season for The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge Now that Halloween has come and gone, it's time to turn our attention to the ultimate holiday season of the year. That time between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve. And what better way to celebrate that glorious time than with a copy of my play The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge. Start a new tradition by gathering the family by the fireplace and reading the play out loud. Your family will delight [...]
Around the World in 80 Days Party Well the idea my friend Sharone and I came up with about having a big party for everyone who has ever done Around the World in 80 Days has certainly gotten a great response. I suppose it's never too early to get things rolling. So I think we should start collecting names and email contact info. If you're interested in this shindig, send your name, contact info, and what production you did to [...]
Marcus Choi and Evil is a Yellow Face Jon Jon Briones and Marcus Choi If there's one thing Broadway performers like doing more than singing in a Broadway musical, it's singing the night away with other Broadway performers on a Monday night. Stroll over to Joe's Pub any Monday night and there's probably some sort of benefit going on with Broadway performers. In fact, my friend Sharone Tannenbaum just produced Artists for World Peace on Broadway at Joe's Pub. Now [...]

Go see my play Around the World in 80 Days at the Kelsey Theatre on the campus of Mercer County Community College. Maurer Productions has put together a slam [...]
Around the World in 80 Days at Kelsey Theatre Evidently the newly added Nudist Colony scene. Two weeks ago my play Tom Jones opened at Butler College in Kansas. (I made a quick trip there to meet everyone). This week Maurer Productions opened my play Around the World in 80 Days at the Kelsey Theatre located at Mercer County Community College. I have a great fondness for the Kelsey Theatre. It's a stone's throw from where I grew up. When [...]
I was re-reading some of the play Deep Into That Darkness Peering that I wrote with my friend Mark Rector. Here's a monologue I wrote for the top of the second act but we ended up not using it. It might be able to be cut down and used as a contemporary monologue for auditions. Or not. POE Thank God you're still here. The walk refreshed me. I am calmer now... Did anyone come for me while I was out? My [...]
I just got back from Arkansas, where the workshop production of my show The Quest for Don Quixote went extremely well. My show was the featured production at the Arkansas New Play Festival at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, AR. The three weeks I was there gave me a fantastic opportunity to focus on the script. The rewrites I made worked very well. I came into the second day of rehearsal bearing chocolate truffles for the two actresses because I cut two [...]
The Arkansas New Play Festival Update Well, it's not really an update since I haven't written anything about The Arkansas New Play Festival but I couldn't think of anything witty. In the Dallas airport with Mark Jacobson I'm here in Fayetteville, Arkansas at TheatreSquared for the previously mentioned Arkansas New Play Festival, to workshop my play The Quest for Don Quixote. And it's going swimmingly. I'm fortunate to be in the featured play slot. That means the show gets 2 1/2 weeks [...]
The Quest For Don Quixote at TheatreSquared I'm thrilled to say that my play The Quest for Don Quixote will be headlining the Arkansas New Play Festival this June at Theatre Squared in Fayetteville, Arkansas. That is completely Judy Dench! The Swank Press Release Playwright Ben Eisenberg sits in a Starbucks, just one day before Don Quixote begins rehearsal. There’s just one problem — he hasn’t written it. His agent is apoplectic, the advance is long since spent, and adapting [...]
Actors Co-Op's Production of 80 Days is a Critics Pick Can I get a woot woot for Actors Co-Op? The theatre has put together a fantastic production of my play Around the World in 80 Days. How fantastic is it? Critics Pick! ~ "At once elegant and loopy, it’s a delightful confection!" ~ The Los Angeles Times 5 Stars! ~ “Perfectly hilarious and thoroughly entertaining . . . True genius! Laughter is nearly non-stop!" ~ The Examiner 5 Stars! ~ “Theatrical magic!” ~ Haines His Way [...]
