Tom Jones – The Musical
The other day I wrote about how my friend Paul Mirkovich and I are recording mock-up demos for our musical Tom Jones. It’s been a long time in the making and I’m excited to finally record the songs. The plan is to do these mock-ups so Paul’s band can hear them and then we’ll record with the band.
The idea we’ve come up with is to keep the story in the 1600s but with modern language and all of the music is inspired by the 1960s British Pop Invasion. A lot of our inspiration has come from The Beatles, Herman’s Hermits, the Animals, Sandie Shaw, and the Dave Clark Five.
About You
The song “About You” is a little love song sung by Tom Jones and his love Sophie Western. (Okay, truth be told, in the novel her name is Sophia but rhyming with Sophie is much easier).
This is right before we hit the “boy loses girl” part of the show.
And that’s Paul singing both parts. Man he has a high voice.
I’d love for you to give it a listen. I hope you like it.
