Love, the Cracksman Title Change

2019-01-10T00:03:01+00:00

Okay, so I've a play based on the P.G. Wodehouse novel A Gentleman of Leisure. It's a romantic comedy about a dashing millionaire who makes a bet that he can rob a house. He meets a three-bit crook and passes himself off as a renown international thief. He meets a girl, falls in love, hijinks ensue, and in the end - and here's the big spoiler alert - we discover he actually is a renowned international thief. It's an homage [...]

The One From Tom Jones the Musical

2022-01-18T05:53:40+00:00

First Public Performance of Tom Jones the Musical The other week we did our first public performance of songs from my show Tom Jones the Musical. I was really happy with the way it went. We performed at The Rockwell Table and Stage out here in Los Angeles as part of the Foundation for New American Musicals' program Musical-Cal. I was fairly nervous about how the songs would be received, but it couldn't have gone much better. We had a great [...]

New Song For Tom Jones the Musical

2018-08-31T16:32:18+00:00

Tom Jones - Spend the Night With Me Yesterday Paul and I got together to record a new song for our musical Tom Jones the Musical. The song is called "Spend the Night With Me." It's a seductive duet between Tom and Mrs. Waters (later in the show there's a jaw-dropping reveal of who Mrs Waters really is). We'll record the singers at a later date. Right now Paul sings both parts. And all of the backup parts. Here it [...]

It Takes a Village

2022-01-18T05:53:39+00:00

A Film About the Magic of Creating Theatre I love the theatre. It's been the one constant in my life. Well, that and my depression. I love the theatre because it is magical to me. It's a place where people come together for the purpose of telling a story. Actors, writers, directors, lighting designers, set designers, costume designers, the list goes on and on. All coming together to tell a story. Brandi Underwood, the founding artistic director of the Fat [...]

A Successful Quest for Don Quixote

2023-11-16T00:56:45+00:00

Fat Turtle Theatre Company Nails the Quest for Don Quixote The Fat Turtle Theatre Company (I love that name) in Indianapolis just closed an extremely successful run of my play The Quest for Don Quixote. "In adapting the unadaptable, this hilarious play about a play about an immortal character that transcends his literature, bends the rules enough to blend medieval chivalry with Pinkie Pie from 'My Little Pony.'" Yep, one character is a closeted bronie. You can read the whole review [...]

Fat Turtle Theatre on a Quest for Don Quixote

2022-01-18T05:53:37+00:00

Fat Turtle Theatre Goes on a Quest for Don Quixote The Fat Turtle Theatre Company in Indianapolis, IN is producing my new-ish play The Quest for Don Quixote. It's my most personal play, based on real events in my life. It's about a writer who struggles with the fear of failure, depression and the sometimes paralyzing fear of life. And it's a comedy. I sat down, via Skype, with director Aaron Cleveland, the other day to talk about the play. I believe [...]
