It’s Phileas, Not Phineas

Since the premiere of my show Around the World in 80 Days, I've had to constantly deal with two misconceptions about the play: 1. There's a balloon in the story. 2. The leading character's name is Phineas. It got to be so much for me that my playwright's notes for The Colony Theatre's production of the show addressed both of these misconceptions. So I was really excited to see a reviewer admit her naivete on both of these issues: [...]

Bryce Ryness to Star in Around the World in 80 Days

Bryce Ryness (Hair and Leap of Faith) has signed on to play Phileas Fogg in the Off-Broadway revival of my play Around the World in 80 Days. Sucker. I met Bryce back when he was doing Hair at the Public Theatre. He's a sweetheart of a guy and will be fantastic in the role.

Alabama Shakespeare

Alabama Shakespeare will be producing Around the World in 80 Days April 19 - May 19. Get your tickets now. My kid needs a new pair of shoes. Anyhoo, they've put out a swanky study guide for the show. It's a pretty fun read. Get it here.

80 Days at Lake Tahoe Community College

I originally wrote Around the World in 80 Days for five actors, but I'm always happy to see theatres like Lake Tahoe Community College employ larger casts. The production opens March 15.

Enchilada Radio Interview

I came across this radio show the other day. It was recorded several years ago and I had never heard it. It's an interview with the three actors who were in Theater LaB Houston's production of China - The Whole Enchilada. The theatre has since lost its venue but I hope they find a new one soon. They were the first theatre to produce the show after we debuted it at the NYC Fringe Festival and they did a heck [...]

Shang Dynasty – Latin Style

Paul and I originally recorded the song "Shang" from China - The Whole Enchilada with an oom-pah band feel to it, for no other reason than it made us laugh. But yesterday we went back into the studio and re-recorded it with a Latin band feel. Here it is with Paul doing scratch vocals.
