Maurer Productions Goes Around The World

Around the World in 80 Days at Kelsey Theatre Evidently the newly added Nudist Colony scene.  Two weeks ago my play Tom Jones opened at Butler College in Kansas. (I made a quick trip there to meet everyone). This week Maurer Productions opened my play Around the World in 80 Days at the Kelsey Theatre located at Mercer County Community College. I have a great fondness for the Kelsey Theatre. It's a stone's throw from where I grew up. When [...]

Own My Childhood Home

You can own my childhood home. That's right. Buy my childhood home and turn it into a Graceland or Hearst Estate. My house embodies the American Dream. A small town boy with a dream in his heart who changed the world of theatre. For all my fans, my house will be the ultimate pilgrimage. Here's what you'll get. ↑ This classic mid-century charmer was purchased in 1964 by my parents. There wasn't a single tree on the property. My dad went to [...]

Thursday Mishmash

Many days I just want to post a bunch of stuff that makes me laugh or means something special to me. Today is one of those days. Here is the Wednesday Mishmash. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Oh man I love Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, a cover band out of San Francisco. They do punk versions of songs ranging from Barbara Streisand to The Beatles. They are seriously an awesome band. If you ever watched Taxicab Confessions [...]

The Ghosts That Haunt Me – Gates of Dawn

The fourth song of my imaginary demo album The Ghosts That Haunt Me is "Gates of Dawn." While I was still in Orlando I was in what I thought was a lasting relationship. I was wrong. We moved to NYC together but before I could unpack she was going on dates with another guy. Yeah, I know how to pick them. So I loaded up the car and moved to Los Angeles. Soon after I was there, an old high [...]

The Ghosts That Haunt Me – Blue Valentines

Today I'm spinning Blue Valentines from my imaginary demo album The Ghosts That Haunt Me. After a botched marriage ceremony and a disastrous breakup, I moved to Orlando to get my life back on track. I found writing songs helped me through it all. I recorded the songs in my living room, using an old Tascam 4-track recorder. The only effect used on the recordings (because it was the only effect I had) was a wee bit of reverb. There was a [...]

Poe Monologue

I was re-reading some of the play Deep Into That Darkness Peering that I wrote with my friend Mark Rector. Here's a monologue I wrote for the top of the second act but we ended up not using it. It might be able to be cut down and used as a contemporary monologue for auditions. Or not. POE Thank God you're still here. The walk refreshed me. I am calmer now... Did anyone come for me while I was out? My [...]
