My adaptation of Tom Jones opened April 11 at the Florida Studio Theatre. Working on this show was a hoot and a half. Mark Shanahan did a fantastic job of directing it and I couldn’t have asked for a better cast. I was making changes up until the first curtain and am still making a few tweeks here and there. The show runs until May 31, so if you’re in the Sarasota, FL area, stop on by for a few yucks.
And what have the critics said about the show?
“If you feel like laughing, it’s a ride worth taking!”
~ The Observer
“Clever, silly and highly theatrical!”
~ Sarasota Herald
“Tom Jones is good silly fun!”
~ Sarasota Magazine
“Laughs anyone? Go see FST’s Tom Jones!”
~ TotalTheatre dot com
“How Brown condenses a long picaresque novel into a two hour play is a miracle of mirth into motion!”
~ TotalTheatre dot com
And what can you expect to see in my sophisticated adaptation of Tom Jones?
A fun way to bring a bed onto a small stage.
Good looking men locked up in prison.
Women with a massive amount of booty.
And people doing the swim to a groovy 18th century harpsichord.
