Holy post-election depression, “All I Want is Truth (for Christmas)” by the Mynabirds is the perfect song to make it to my Best Christmas songs list.

It’s a lovely song about consumerism, warmongering, failed politics, willful ignorance and climate change.

Topical? I think yes.

The Mynabirds

In brief, the Mynabirds is an indie pop band founded by singer-songwriter and pianist Laura Burhenn. She’s a self proclaimed shape-shifter, who is exploring what it means to be a revolutionary woman in this day and age.

Um…Okay.

“All I Want is Truth (for Christmas)”

The song addresses climate change, crazy politicians and reveling in Christmas without “any store bought things. Truly a song written for our time, despite it being written in 2012.

On climate control:

Oy is that the truth.

But even with all of the protests it puts you in the holiday spirit and makes pause for a moment to think about the true meaning of Christmas.
