Who Knew There Was a National Cheesecake Day?

I’m back from vacation and what better way to kick off my return to the internet than to announce National Cheesecake Day. I had no idea there was a National Cheesecake Day but it doesn’t surprise me. This year we celebrate all that is good about cheesecakes on July 30, 2014. I have no idea how this day started or how long people have been celebrating it. But if they want to put aside a day to enjoy cheesecake, I’ll all for it.

Cheesecake Deals

Oh sure you could bake your own cheesecake but why bother when you can get great deals.

Junior’s Cheesecake

In my mind the Grandaddy of all cheesecake is Junior’s Cheesecake, founded in 1950 in Brooklyn, NY (the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb). Oh my God I love their cheesecakes. And they have a pretty sweet deal (see what I did there with using the word “sweet?”). Junior’s is offering half of a slice with an entree. But I say skip the entree and go for the $5 off a regular size cake.

Cheesecake Factory

Not to be outdone and certainly no slouch when it comes to cheesecake (it is in the title after all) The Cheesecake Factory wins points for celebrating National Cheesecake Day for 2 days. Any slice, half price. Awesome.

So go out there and have some cheesecake.

Two fun facts:

1) The largest cheesecake was made in 2009 and weighed in at 4,700 pounds.

2) Today is National Lasagna Day.
