Florida Rep Set to go Around the World in 80 Days
Florida Rep opens Around the World in 80 Days tonight. Woot.
The production is directed by my good friend, Mark Shanahan. Mark recently directed the production of Around the World in 80 Days at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas. (That production had an extraordinary event that I don’t think can ever be duplicated). Last spring Mark directed the world premiere of my play Tom Jones. He’s also been in a couple of productions of Around the World in 80 Days. It’s a good thing I like him.
The show stars Jason Parrish, Greg Longenhagen, Sharone Sayegh, Brendan Powers, and my dear friend Bruce Warren. Rounding out the performers is Mike Magliocca as the Foley Artist.
Oh Bruce Warren. Bruce was in the world premiere of Tom Jones and was recently in the 80 Days production at TheatreSquared. (I like to keep my friends employed). Bruce is a hell of an actor and a funny, funny man.
Here I am sandwiched by Mark Shanahan and Bruce Warren. I love these guys.
The sound design for this production is by Sean Hagerty. Sean is quietly becoming an expert on the show. He has done the sound design for several productions, including the Off-Broadway revival.
Thank you to Robert Cacioppo, Florida Rep’s Founder & Producing Artistic Director, and everyone at Florida Rep for producing my play. I hope it does well for you.

In Case You’re in the Area
Florida Rep is graciously flying me in to see the show and do a couple of audience talkbacks. I’ll be in town Feb 20 – Feb 23 in case you want to stop by.
I’m excited to see the show and meet everyone at Florida Rep. But I may be even more excited to see the Edison Festival of Light. It’s a huge, nearly three week, celebration of Thomas Edison, who had a house in Fort Myers. The celebration is so big that Florida Rep doesn’t even perform on Saturday the 21st. That’s a crazy celebration. I’m going to see if I can sneak in the 5k race on Saturday night.
And of course there’s always Cracker Barrel. I need to load up on my sodium and cholesterol.
