Benefactor Wanted

It's Wednesday so it must be Pleading Day. I want a benefactor. There, I've said it. I know the idea of a benefactor seems old fashioned but I'd like to bring it back into vogue. I love writing and have had more success than I ever thought possible, but the financial demand of supporting a family while pursuing a career in the arts is nerve racking at best. Enter the benefactor. The grant giver. The angel. The philanthropist who has [...]

Opening Night of Around the World in 80 Days

Well my show Around the World in 80 Days opened last night Off-Broadway. I started my day with a wonderful lunch with good friends at the Friars Club. Had a few drinks. Played some pool on the pool table Jackie Gleason practiced on for the film The Hustler. Had pre-show sushi and drinks with my manager. Saw the show. Had champagne at intermission (Are you sensing a pattern here?). Went to the after-show party. Had a drink. Went out and [...]

Around the World in 80 Days Cast Change

For those of you scoring at home, there's been another cast change to the Off-Broadway production of my play Around the World in 80 Days. Shirine Babb replaces Emily McNamara in the role of Aouda. Earlier, John Gregorio replaced Leo Ash Evans in the role of Passepartout because Leo Ash Evan's show Finks was extended. Welcome to the show Shirine.

Around the World in 80 Days at Penobscot Theatre

Congratulations to Penobscot Theatre for a lovely review in the Bangor Daily News of their production of Around the World in 80 Days. "“Around the World in 80 Days” is a frolick fit for frittering away a couple of hours as spring wans and summer approaches and a fine way for PTC to close out its 39th season."

You Brought Her, You Bangor

The Penobscot Theatre Company in Bangor, Maine is closing out its season with my play Around the World in 80 Days. What's really great is the theatre is offering one complimentary youth ticket for kids 18 and under for every full priced ticket purchased. "We really want to pack the house with families," says Artistic Director, Bari Newport, "We want people of all ages to know they are welcome at PTC." That's a really great way to introduce kids to the magic [...]

Drama Book Shop Shoutout

Back when I was starting out in my acting career I used to spend an inordinate amount of time at the Drama Book Shop in NYC. This was back when the shop was at its old location. 723 7th Ave, I believe. Next to a strip club and right where Tupac was once shot. I would take NJ Transit into the city at a god forsaken hour, grab a bagel in Penn Station, walk up to the Actors Equity building, [...]

‘World’ of Talent Brings Verne Novel to Stage

A lovely review in the Montgomery Advertiser of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's production of Around the World in 80 Days. "A production that demonstrates to a sometimes amazed audience how even stories of massive scope can fit the confines of a stage." You can read the entire review here. And evidently the play wrote itself. Sigh. Photo courtesy David Robertson/ASF

Theatre Transformation

So evidently the powers that be didn't quite like the way The New Theatre at 45th Street looked for the Off-Broadway production of Around the World in 80 Days so they decided to gut renovate the theatre. Here's a cool video of the process.
