Years ago I wrote and recorded songs to while away the time between auditions and acting gigs. I was digging through the vault today and found this one. It’s called “Muriel,” about a guy finally able to say goodbye to his past and move on with his life. It was part of my imaginary album entitled The Ghosts That Haunt Me. Cheery, huh? Well, that’s what a lifelong battle with depression will do to you.
I’ve always wanted to bribe someone like Paul Mirkovich, Jane Lui, or Jeffrey Dean Foster to help me re-record the songs from The Ghosts That Haunt Me. Someone to give the songs a professional sound, although there is something raw and desperate about the “I have no idea what I’m doing” quality of the recordings. But Paul, Jane, and Jeffrey are all insanely busy and Paul and I are about to record the songs for our musical Tom Jones. The Ghosts That Haunt Me will most likely have to wait.
Until the day when I can get someone to re-record them, I’ll just have to post them as they are. Here’s “Muriel.” I hope you like it.
